Puttin' on the Ritz

I often walk by this building when I go on my lunchtime walks. I have taken a ridiculous number of photos. I'm charmed by the Southwestern Art Deco-ish touches and the hurricane shutters.

I'm need to find out the history of the building. It houses a lawyer's office these days, but has it always? Why the Ritz? That's not the name of the law offices.

  1. It used to be a movie theater. The movie theater in Singing River Mall is named The Ritz in its honor. I can remember it as a child, everybody always talked about The Ritz. Everybody knew that building as such so when it became an office building, they kept the name. I don't know exactly how long it was a theater but I bet you could find out more from genealogy.

  3. I was just going to tell you- that it used to be a movie theater and it was pepto bismol pink. I saw Grease there when it came out. a LONGGG time ago. I saw it for the first time in many years this past time when we were home- although I'm not sure why they called it the Ritz.
