Ichin' and Pickin'

Driving between libraries yesterday I had an itchy nose, a very itchy nose. The kind of itchy (and pardon me for this) that makes you want to just stick your finger up there and take care of things.

Thankfully, I looked up from my nose preoccupation in time to see a blond little boy, six or seven years old in the back seat of the car in front of me. I didn't recognize him. He was dressed in his school uniform, turned around backwards, waving like a maniac, and looked like he was going to wiggle right out of his skin with excitement. I stopped itching my nose long enough to wave manically back. Then, the car turned off to the left.

These days I don't have as much to do with the actual children in the communities because so much of my time is office time. I do get out occasionally to tell stories or as I did this summer, help with puppet shows. So, I probably met this young man somewhere along the way. I'm VERY glad to say that little boy didn't catch the library lady picking her nose. It just goes to show, as I'm always saying to the Finman, "You're never as alone as you think you are."

I love to watch kids in cars and wave and make faces when appropriate. Too fun.
