Not to brag, but not just everyone can say they had lunch with dolphins. Well, maybe I can't say I had lunch "with" the dolphins either but, dolphins are what caught my eye on my lunchtime photo stroll.
Today's lunchtime perambulations found me standing alongside the Pascagoula River, near the mouth and across the river from a ship registered in Monrovia. And, who did I see showing off beside the big ship? A couple of bottlenose dolphins.
Let me tell you, anticipating where a dolphin is going to surface is not as easy as it sounds. I managed to get them in frame a few times. It really made my day.

Ice Flows
Last week, we had unusually cold, cold weather. It's not often that you see ice along this stretch of the Gulf of Mexico. On Thursday, when thinking about where to eat lunch, I had an intuition that Beach Park was the place to go. Sure enough, as soon as I turned into the parking area I was validated. In fact, I ran into some other folks coming to visit the spectacle of ice, word must have gotten around town.

Walking
I've started walking again at lunch. I've mentioned it before but when you live in a state that leads the nation in obesity and has sidewalks few and far between you don't see a lot of people walking. Add to that, the knowledge that its been in the 40's around noon in a sub-tropic place where most people are cold when it drops below about 60 and you have a recipe for eccentricity. Hopefully, no one calls the police on the dangerous walking woman.
This is the railroad switch near my library. While, it's very annoying to be "caught" by the train, I love that I get to see the trains every day. You may think it's crazy but I think there is something very appealing about the the railroad tracks and the bascule bridge farther down the line. I know some might see it as industrial and bleak but I think it has a certain kind of attraction.

Traveling
The Finman and I went for a nice paddle on Saturday. Our trip location was actually "Plan B" but I think I enjoyed it much more than I would have enjoyed the originally chosen launch site. We put in at Kreb's Lake in Pascagoula and then kayaked under the high rise bridge and down (or up, not sure which) the shipping channel.
It was a beautiful day for a kayak trip. The weather was just right, the water was calm, and the sky was lovely blue. I hope we have many more days like this one in front of us.
